DarKri — A Little More Me.

DarKri collections do not begin with trends, seasonal colors or the idea of simply creating a beautiful combination of stones. They begin with people.
Over the years, I have noticed that despite how different our lives may be, we often move through similar inner experiences. At different moments, we may seek confidence, balance, clarity, love, protection, a sense of direction, or the courage to move through change.
These fundamental human needs became the starting point for DarKri collections.
Each collection is built around a particular theme or state. From there, I begin working with the stones — considering their traditional meanings and symbolism, their individual character, and the way different minerals interact within a composition.
But the process is not based on theory alone.
For 16 years, I have worked closely with natural stones and with the people who choose and wear them. Over time, I began paying particular attention to these interactions: which stones people are instinctively drawn to, which combinations resonate with them, how their choices change during different periods of life, and how they describe their own experiences with the stones.
Years of observation, practical work and direct feedback gradually shaped my own approach to selecting and combining stones. This same experience now forms the foundation of both my personalized selections and DarKri collections.
When I create a collection, I am therefore not trying to prescribe what a person should feel or promise that a stone will create a particular result. Instead, I create a carefully considered combination around a recognizable human experience or intention.
One person may choose a piece because its meaning reflects exactly where they are in life. Another may simply feel drawn to its stones, colors or form — and discover the meaning afterwards. Both are equally valid.
This is also why the collections are an important part of DarKri in their own right. A piece does not have to be individually created for one person in order to carry intention and meaning.
The difference lies in the starting point.
A personalized selection begins with you — your current state, intentions, needs and individual story.
A DarKri collection begins with a universal human theme — something many of us may encounter, but experience in our own way.
From that theme, I translate an idea into stones, colors, textures and form, creating jewelry that can become personal through the person who chooses it.
For me, this is the meaning behind DarKri collections: jewelry created with thought and intention, but without imposing a meaning on you.
You choose what resonates.
And from that moment, the piece becomes part of your own story.

Natural stones entered my life long before DarKri became a brand. Over the years, my way of understanding and working with them has changed significantly.
At first, I approached stones primarily as materials. I studied their structure, origin, quality and natural characteristics. I learned to notice the details — color, transparency, inclusions, texture, treatments and the enormous variation that can exist even within the same mineral.
But working with stones also meant working with the people who chose them.
And this gradually became one of the most interesting parts of my practice.
I began to notice that people rarely choose stones in exactly the same way. Someone may immediately feel drawn to a mineral they have never seen before. Another person repeatedly returns to the same colors, textures or types of stones. And sometimes a stone that once caused no particular interest suddenly becomes the one a person does not want to put down.
I became interested in what stands behind these choices.
Over time, my approach began to extend beyond gemological characteristics alone. I started bringing together my knowledge of natural stones with observation, psychology, symbolism and intuition.
I study the traditional meanings associated with minerals, but I do not believe they should be reduced to simple formulas such as “this stone is for love” or “this one is for success.”
People are more complex than that.
For me, a stone exists within a much larger context: the person who chooses it, their current state, their needs and intentions, the symbolism they personally respond to, and the qualities they want to bring more attention to in their life.
The same principle applies when I combine several stones in one piece. I consider not only how they look together, but also their individual character, symbolism, color, texture and the way the entire composition feels as a whole.
Some parts of this process are very structured. Others rely more on intuition.
I do not see these as opposites.
Knowledge creates the foundation. Observation and practical experience add another layer. And intuition often helps me notice connections that cannot always be reduced to a predefined formula.
This is also why my approach continues to evolve.
Every new stone, every combination and every person I work with adds another observation to the process.
There is one principle, however, that remains unchanged: I do not want to tell someone what they are supposed to feel or promise that a particular stone will create a particular result.
Instead, I see stones as meaningful objects that can become symbols, reminders and personal points of connection with something important to us.
Sometimes choosing a stone is simply choosing something beautiful.
And sometimes, through that choice, we notice something about ourselves.

A personalized stone selection at DarKri does not begin with a list of stones or with the question, “Which stone do you need?”
It begins with you.
Your current state, the changes you are going through, the questions that occupy your attention, your intentions, needs and the areas of life that feel especially important at this moment.
Because two people may come with what appears to be the same request — confidence, balance, clarity, relationships, a new beginning — and yet need completely different approaches.
This is why I do not work with universal formulas.
Depending on the type of selection, I may use different methods and systems to look at the request from several perspectives. These can include conversation and diagnostics, astrology, Ba Zi, intuitive methods and my own approach to working with natural stones.
The purpose is not to put a person into a category or to tell them who they are.
It is to gather information, notice patterns and gradually understand what is most relevant for this particular person at this particular moment.
From there, I begin working with the stones.
I consider their natural characteristics, traditional symbolism and meanings, colors, textures and the way different minerals interact within one composition. I also pay attention to the person’s own response — because attraction, rejection and personal associations can sometimes reveal something that no system or calculation can show on its own.
This is where structure and intuition meet.
The result is not simply a list of “recommended stones.”
It is a carefully considered combination created around an individual person and their request.
Sometimes the selected stones become a bracelet, necklace or another piece of jewelry. Sometimes the selection itself is the most important part of the process — an opportunity to look at yourself and your current situation from a different perspective.
And this is what distinguishes a personalized selection from a DarKri collection.
A collection begins with a universal human theme — confidence, balance, love, protection, clarity, transformation or another experience that many people may recognize in their own lives.
A personalized selection moves in the opposite direction.
It begins with one person.
There is no predetermined answer and no combination prepared in advance.
The stones are selected step by step, based on the information that emerges during the process.
I also do not promise that a particular mineral will change your life, solve a problem or create a guaranteed result.
For me, the value of this work lies elsewhere.
A thoughtfully selected combination of stones can become a personal symbol, a physical reminder of an intention, a meaningful object connected to a particular period of life — and sometimes simply a way to notice something about yourself that had previously remained in the background.
The final piece is therefore not intended to define you.
It is created to belong to your story.

Первый девичник: вечер, где можно было просто быть собой

Иногда для того, чтобы почувствовать себя лучше, не нужны грандиозные события. Достаточно нескольких часов, проведённых в тёплой компании, где не нужно никуда спешить, ничего доказывать и играть никакие роли.

Именно таким получился наш первый девичник.

Мы собрались небольшим кругом женщин, многие из которых до этого никогда не встречались. Но уже совсем скоро стало казаться, будто мы знакомы давно. Разговоры текли легко и естественно — о жизни, внутренних поисках, духовности, интуиции, камнях и тех темах, которым не всегда находится место в повседневной суете.

Одной из самых трогательных частей вечера стала медитация с финскими гранатами, которые я собрала своими руками. Каждая участница держала в руках свой камень, прислушивалась к себе, отпускала напряжение и позволяла себе просто остановиться.

В завершение встречи каждая женщина забрала свой гранат домой — как небольшой подарок и символ этого вечера. Пусть он напоминает о том спокойствии, внутренней силе и ощущении опоры, которые удалось почувствовать во время медитации.

Для меня этот вечер стал ещё одним подтверждением того, насколько важно создавать пространства, где женщины могут знакомиться, вдохновлять друг друга, чувствовать поддержку и просто отдыхать душой.

Именно ради этого родилось наше сообщество.

Девичник в Эспоо — вечер для души

Иногда лучший способ восстановить силы — это провести вечер в тёплой компании, где можно расслабиться, познакомиться с новыми людьми и просто быть собой.

Именно для этого мы создали наши девичники — небольшие встречи для женщин, где нет лекций, спешки и необходимости соответствовать чьим-то ожиданиям.

В уютной атмосфере мы говорим о жизни, духовности, интуиции, натуральных камнях и других темах, которые редко становятся частью повседневных разговоров.

Каждая встреча включает небольшую практику или медитацию, помогающую замедлиться, почувствовать внутреннюю опору и уделить время себе.

На нашем первом девичнике участницы отправились в медитацию с настоящими финскими гранатами, найденными в природе. В завершение вечера каждая забрала свой камень домой — как символ прожитого состояния и напоминание о внутренней силе.

Наши встречи — это пространство для новых знакомств, вдохновения, искренних разговоров и отдыха от повседневной суеты.

Welcome to the world of DarKri.

If you are here, you are probably looking for something truly valuable and beautiful — a piece of jewelry where authenticity matters just as much as aesthetics.
My name is Olena Ahafonova, and I am the founder of DarKri.

I have been working with natural gemstones since 2010. At first, stones were simply materials for creating jewelry. But it wasn't long before I realized that they were so much more than beautiful beads.

In 2015, I made my first research trip to the Museum of Precious and Decorative Stones in the Zhytomyr region of Ukraine. The region is known for its rich mineral deposits, and it was there that I truly understood that natural stones are more than just materials. They carry geological history, unique structures, and a special energy that has always fascinated me.

That experience deepened my curiosity and inspired me to explore the structure, origins, and treatment methods of gemstones in greater detail.
In the early years, I searched for high-quality natural stones myself and faced many disappointments. Dyed or treated materials were often sold without proper disclosure, presented as completely natural and untreated. This meant wasted time, money, and, most importantly, lost trust.

Over the years, I discovered just how many materials on the market are made to look natural while their true characteristics remain undisclosed. This motivated me to study gemstone structures, origins, and quality assessment more seriously.
What began as a professional interest gradually became a matter of personal responsibility.

Today, clients and jewelry makers regularly come to me with the same questions and uncertainties I once experienced. I realized how important it is to create a space where people can feel confident about the authenticity of the stones they choose.
My work with gemstones goes beyond jewelry design. I also create gemstone cabochons by hand, shaping and polishing natural stones to reveal their individual beauty. Working directly with gemstones allows me to understand them on a deeper level — their structure, texture, patterns, and unique natural characteristics.

For me, this process is both a craft and a continuous journey of discovery. Every stone is different, and part of the beauty lies in revealing what nature has already created.

I currently organize in-person gatherings and educational events about natural gemstones in Helsinki, primarily for the Russian-speaking community in Finland. During these meetings, we explore gemstones through practical experience, learning about their structures, quality, and methods of identifying authenticity.
I am also a member of a Finnish gemstone association and continue to expand my knowledge through exhibitions, events, and museum visits.

There is always something new to discover about stones — in museums, at exhibitions, and in nature itself.

For me, quality goes far beyond appearance.

The quality of a gemstone influences its physical characteristics, durability, and the way it feels when worn. I also believe that every stone has its own character and a unique connection with the person who chooses it.

A carefully selected natural gemstone has its own harmony — in its structure, weight, and individual character.

This philosophy became the foundation of DarKri.
A brand where authenticity is not simply a marketing promise, but a fundamental value.

I personally select the materials I work with, paying close attention to their natural origins, quality, and characteristics. Transparency, craftsmanship, and respect for natural gemstones are at the heart of everything I create.
DarKri is based in Helsinki, Finland.

Each piece of jewelry is designed and handcrafted here in small batches, with careful attention to quality, detail, and timeless design.
As DarKri continues to grow, I also plan to offer my handcrafted gemstone cabochons, giving other jewelry makers and designers the opportunity to work with stones I have personally shaped and polished.
